AI engines quote pages that answer a question completely in the first two sentences, then support it with evidence. That single structural habit — answer first, explain after — is worth more than any plugin or trick. Here is the exact format we use on client pages, and why each piece earns quotes.
The answer-first pattern
Every page or section targeting a question should open with a direct, self-contained answer that would make sense if lifted out and read alone — because that is literally what AI engines do with it. Bold the answer sentence. Then give context, evidence and nuance below. Compare: “There are many factors that affect website cost…” (never quoted) versus “A business website in Kerala costs ₹25,000–₹1,50,000 depending on pages and features” (quotable as-is).
Write questions the way people ask AI
People type conversational queries: “how much does a website cost in Kerala”, “is GEO worth it for small business”. Use those exact phrasings as H2/H3 headings. Your heading is the retrieval hook; the paragraph under it is the quote. One question per section — mixed sections confuse retrieval.
Make facts liftable
AI engines preferentially quote three formats: numbers (“4–8 weeks”, “₹50,000 per 3 months”), definitions (“llms.txt is a plain-text file at your site root that…”), and tables. Every key page should contain at least one of each. Vague marketing copy (“industry-leading solutions”) is unquotable and effectively invisible to AI.
The FAQ block, done right
End pages with 3–6 FAQs in visible accordions or plain headings. Two rules: each answer must be complete in 2–3 sentences (not “contact us to find out”), and if you add FAQ schema it must match the visible questions word-for-word — mismatched or hidden FAQ schema is a structured-data violation that can cost you rich results entirely.
Structure checklist
One H1 stating the topic. Direct answer in the first two sentences. Question-phrased H2s. One statistic, one definition, one table where natural. Visible FAQ block, schema matching. Internal links to your service page and one related post. Updated date shown. That is the whole system — the discipline is applying it to every page, every time.
FAQ
Does Q&A format help normal Google rankings too?
Yes. The same structure wins featured snippets and People Also Ask placements, and it matches how Google evaluates helpful content — so it serves SEO, AEO and GEO simultaneously.
Should every page on my site use this format?
Apply it fully to pages targeting questions (services, guides, FAQs). Brand pages and portfolios need clarity but not rigid Q&A structure.
How long should answers be?
The direct answer: one to two sentences. The full section: 80–150 words. AI engines quote tight passages; long unbroken text gets summarised instead of cited, and you lose the attribution.
